Vocational Service Report

This year’s main event was the Pride of Workmanship awards presented to members of the Manly Community. The awards evening was held at a dinner held at “The International College of Management Sydney”.
Rotary's Vocational Service Awards, recognise those exceptional employees within our community who have ' gone the extra mile' in the pursuit of the success of their business or trade. In doing so they exemplify the Rotary model of “do it once and do it well". The pursuit of excellence in business includes high ethical standards and a desire to assist the community in which we live by maintaining and promoting those standards. The three worthy recipients were:
Joanne Watts, Emergency Dept., Manly Hospital, nominated by Frank Bazik, General Manager Northern Beaches Health Service.
Joanne for the past 15 years worked through the ranks of nursing as an Emergency Nurse at Manly Hospital, achieving the senior nursing position of Nursing Unit Manager, Level 3, in charge of 70 nurses that contribute to the effective nursing management of the Emergency Department.
Donna Parkes, Royal Far West Country Service Manager, nominated by Lindsay Cane, CEO Royal Far West.
Donna is based at Dubbo and works with rural and remote communities to understand the needs of their children and young people, and to find solutions for these isolated communities. She is the eyes and ears of the RFW in remote NSW communities. Donna's leadership of the rural local health districts, Medicare locals and aboriginal medical services has built respect and those services honour her work.
