PRESIDENT SUSIE'S WEEKLY REPORT

Our social outing last week at Manly Dam turned out to be a terrific evening – good food, good weather and great conversations with those present. Susan Wakefield spoke about the upcoming District Conference in March (Newcastle) and presented each club with a beautiful “garden gnome”. The gnomes are to be taken to the conference dressed up with the individual Club’s theme. We thought perhaps a “fun run” athletic gnome with running shoes, hat and Manly Rotary T shirt. Beside each gnome will be a moneybox and the Club with the most donations wins a prize – not sure what it is yet. Susan also mentioned the possibility of the merge of the two districts 9685 and 9675 (refer last week’s video presentation). It was a good opportunity for our club members to keep in touch with other club members on the northern beaches. Dee Why and Balgowlah in particular.

Next week we are having a Northern Beaches Rotary Group meeting where we will be discussing the possibility of a jointly managed major fund-raiser – dinner. We shall also raise again the possibility of the Northern Beaches clubs contributing to the PCYC bus project.

Regarding our Membership drive on 13 March, please keep this in mind when you are talking to friends and relatives and also retail businesses with whom you have contact. Ask them to come along to the evening and learn more about Rotary and listen to some of the interesting speakers we will have on the night including politicians and people we have supported. It will also be an opportunity for people to look inside the new home of Royal Far West.

Have a good week and look forward to seeing you at the Barefoot Bowls event on Sunday morning 10 February with our Rotaract friends.
