PRESIDENT SUSIE'S 2018 MESSAGE
Welcome back to our breakfast meetings and a Happy, Healthy and Safe New Year to all club members. It was great to see a good turn-up to the meeting this morning with a special thank you to Michael Regan who gave us an update on what is happening with Council. Thank you also to Tracy for your presentation that gave us a brief insight into what is happening in Iran relating to your role – how intriguing is the culture about which we simply don’t know enough. Your talk has whet our appetite to learn more…….

Doug and I are “rearing” to go in this second half of the year with plans progressing well for the Fun Run and Walk in early June and discussions continuing about future projects and opportunities to raise funds.  Your input into these essential areas is most welcome.  At our meeting next week we shall confirm Board Members for 2018/2019 and look forward to a lively and well attended Board Meeting on 30 January. Please try and keep the date free as we really appreciate your ideas and opinions about how to make sure our Club remains a vital and respected contributor to the Community.

We talked a little this morning about the Stand Tall Champions Camp (event) held in the first week of January. The organization, including the participants, thanked us most warmly for our Club’s contribution. Doug, Vivien and I were just blown away by the commitment and hard work undertaken by the volunteers running the camp, and also by the way in which these young people were encouraged in a positive and nurturing way, to make something of their lives. Brad Garraway is their “volunteer” organizer and mentioned they will need help setting up their Celebration Charity Dinner held at Norths Club Cammeray on Saturday March 17. We have also been invited to attend the night with the purchase of tickets! On June 13 their main event is held at the International Convention Centre. They will need about 60 volunteers for the day to assist with managing the 2200 children who will attend!  I imagine any help will be welcome.

Thank you for your support and encouragement.

Letter of thanks from Manly Meals on Wheels for Christmas Hampers

We heard feedback from Doug, Susie, Vivien who had visited the Stand Tall camp at ICMS in the New Year.
There were 15 students who attended of which 5 of them had family members who had committed suicide. The camp was a success and the transformation witnessed by Viv and Susie in the children's confidence was amazing. They have a function in June where the funds raised from the dinner go towards the costs. There is an opportunity to volunteer and help in the future.

Australia Day function organised by Beverley & Tracy. 11.30am on Australia Day @ Manly Dam. Site booked, if anyone has got any games please bring them. Invite to be sent out and include Rotaract members.
